If you’ve ever left your phone at home, you know what it’s like. You’re disconnected. The difficulty of going “unplugged,” even for a day, is that we crave connection. This need to belong drives many of our choices. It is part of what makes us human. Yet, too often it escapes us. We are disappointed by the very people to whom we felt most strongly connected.
You belong here.
It’s exciting to that sense of inclusion. When God initiated the Church, he had in mind a heartfelt connection of diverse people. He said that the greatest love we could show was to lay down our lives for our friends, but in truth, it was God who laid down his life for us; in order to call us friends – even brothers and sisters.
The Church is a community of people committed to doing life together and knowing God. God wants each of us to find a place of belonging in his family and at his table. He himself has opened the door for it.
