Jesus Is…The Prince of Peace

Category:Newsletter Tags :

JesusAre you ready for the frenzy? By now, we all know that it’s coming. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and that means turkeys to carve, tables to set, guestrooms to prepare—the list seems endless. And when that’s all said and done, what is waiting for us?

That means presents to buy, trees to trim, cookies to decorate—an even longer list than Thanksgiving’s! At times, all of the frenzy surrounding the holiday schedules of November and December may make us look passed it all, hoping for what follows: relaxing, calming, peace.

Peace. The Bible talks it too. Only when the Bible talks about peace, it refers to something far greater than a little rest and relaxation after a frantic holiday season. It refers to peace with God.

Do you have that? Do you have peace with God? Do you want that? Then the bigger question becomes: Can you have that? Is it even possible for unholy, imperfect people to have peace with a holy and perfect God? God himself demands that if we are to have peace with him, we must be holy and perfect just like he is.

You do have peace with God. Not because this article will provide a three-step, fool-proof method to holiness and perfection, but because there is one who has been holy and perfect in your place. His name is Jesus; the one Isaiah so aptly calls the “Prince of Peace.” Through his perfect life and innocent death, Jesus removed every single chink and notch and stain and blemish that ruined us and our hopes of holiness, and he gave you his perfection. In doing so, the Prince of Peace has given you exactly what your holy and perfect God demands. Trust in Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and know you have peace with God as your personal possession forever.

May his peace bring you peace during the hustle and bustle and frenzy of the holiday season.  May his peace grant you the peace to enjoy those holidays – as you give thanks to God and celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called…Prince of Peace.”

– Isaiah
